New Year Resolutions

#newyearresolutions

New Year’s resolutions are very often broken within the first month, but if you make the right choices they can put you on the right track for the year ahead and give you clear direction in life. There will always be the predictable resolutions such as; losing weight, not eating chocolate, exercising more, etc… but here a few others that you may not have considered.

Help others:-

  • Sponsor a child - ask your parents if you can donate a small amount of your pocket money each month.
  • Become a pen pal - to someone less fortunate than you who will be glad of a friend.
  • Help out at the local charity shop or church outing – they often need people to run stalls or assist on trips.

Make time to:-

  • Get fit – nothing too crazy, a walk twice a week will do.
  • Tidy you room – without your parents having to nag you. You’ll be surprised at how this can lift your mood.
  • Spend more time with family – organise at least one family ‘evening in’ every month.

Learn something new:-

  • Get crafty – if you like to look unique then get stitching!
  • Learn a new language – even if it’s only a couple of phrases you can use when on holiday.
  • Join a choir – so many pop stars got the singing bug from being in a choir.

Break the habit of:-

  • Chewing nails - and reward yourself with a new nail polish for every month you succeed.
  • Swearing - it’s often something we do not realise we do and can give the wrong impression to others.
  • Gossiping – make a conscious effort to be nice about people and always look for the good in them.
