Winter Skin

#beauty, #skincare, #winterskin

If you’re suffering with dry skin, chapped lips or a red nose just like Rudolph then you may need some help keeping your skin moisturised and looking fab.

Here’s our top Winter must haves.

Moisturise more than ever…… Swap your fresh and light summer moisturiser for an oil based one; this will create a protective layer on the skin, helping to lock in moisture.

Give yourself a hand… your hands are one of the few parts of your body that are always exposed to the elements and the skin here is generally thinner than on most parts of the body and has fewer oil glands too. So, invest in a good quality hand cream and when outside wear cotton gloves to keep moisture in.

Kissable lips… The wind can leave all of us with a less than glamourous pout, so keep a lip balm in your pocket during these cold times, so you can whip it out throughout the day to keeps your lips hydrated.

Vaseline has been around forever, but is still trusted by many a super model.

Rosy Lips

We like their Rosy Lips version
at £1.95 a pot.

Tone it down… If your skin is very dry, avoid using harsh face masks, peels, toners and exfoliators that can strip your skin of vital oils. Instead switch to milky cleansers and masks labelled deeply hydrating and use them sparingly.

Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Lotion

Exfoliate your troubles away. Your skin ones that is. Exfoliting once a week can help remove dead skin cells that can make your face appear dull.

Get the glow. To keep your body in tip top condition consider using an exfoliating glove or sponge, brushing against the skin in small circular motions is advised.

Did you know that the heating in your house can actually dry your skin out, so where possible try to keep a window ajar when indoors? If you’re going to be outside for long periods of time remember that cold winds and the sun can dry out your skin very quickly…yes you still need to wear sunscreen even in winter!

Initially, a hot bath or shower may seem like a welcome treat at the end of a long day at school or a cold walk home, but the heat from the water can actually lead to a loss of moisture, so stick to a warm bath and if your skin is super dry and itchy, pop into the kitchen and borrow a couple of tablespoons of baking powder for a cheap and cheerful relief from any irritation.

Nice advice! For dry hands , I recommend aveeno moisturiser it works really well for me, and isn't that expensive. Also, for face wash, I use the tropic skincare one, it's quite pricey but is by far my favourite, and super effective for oily skin.

Love this! Really good tips! For dry lips ( which I get A LOT ) I recommend Nivea Lip Butter. I really love the tingling sensation you get from Carmex but it doesn't really help the dryness. Plus, in the evening I use Johnson Johnson clean and clear which is a good brand for spot removal. My final tip is to make sure you wash your face really well especially after wearing make up.

To Heeyheyee

@Heeyheyee That's a bit rude. They're just trying to help your skin and they don't know if you can't afford it.
